The Spiritual Training Seminar held at the Passionist Spiritual Center, Riverdale NY was a wonderful event.

I (we) want to thank Yuri Shinomura who proposed, organized and prepared this seminar with the staff of NY Center.

The place is familiar because we have used it for International Spiritual Training Seminars many times. It is close to NY City, with a beautiful location by the Hudson River, and having nice food, private rooms, and nice people.

On top of these things, the wonderful teachings of Seicho-No-Ie filled our spiritual needs. Two hundred dollars for two days is a real bargain, because just even to stay for one night in New York City hotel costs about the same amount. Besides practicing Shinsokan (prayerful meditation), we tried “walking or free style silent meditation.”

People enjoyed it very much. I think it is good training because we often have time to spend alone going to work or even waiting for train or bus. Instead of our thoughts roaming around for nothing, it is a good exercise to focus on God or on good thoughts.

I would like to recommend to newsletter readers to memorize the following short Shinsokan and recite many times the following meditation. New ideas and guidance will come to you.

“I open my heart and humbly accept your will.  O God, thank you very much for guiding me to manifest your will.”

It is important, first to remove our “ego” and let divine guidance take over. September 11 was an unforgettable day especially for New Yorkers. Many volunteers came to NY Center and recited “Prayer for World Peace” and “Holy Sutra.”

I remember, Dr. Masaharu Taniguchi saying that our thoughts will be added or be accumulated in the “race consciousness” and, therefore, when more people forecast (like radio station) bright, positive and loving thoughts, humanity will be purified and peace will arrive.

Unfortunately, at present time more people are forecasting negative and angry vibrations. Someone (we) must reverse the trend.

Thanks to Mrs. Shoko Iwata (NY staff) for arranging the opportunity to speak at YWCA in White Plains, NY, I spoke for one hour on the subject, “Use the Power of Your Mind and Power of Word for Better Health and Happiness”.

The director of YWCA is trying to start a new program to introduce other philosophies or teachings to its members and I was the first in the series. I also talked about the basic teaching of Seicho-No-Ie --- “We are all children of God” and “All religions emanate from one universal God.” People who attended the meeting seemed to enjoy the Seicho-No-Ie’s teaching.

I hope we can go out more to spread the wonderful teaching of SNI. Please mark your calendar on November 13 and 14.
